Tyler's Turn Blog

Happy Holidays

One of the bad things about owning a retail business in the United States is that your personal life goes to hell with the advent of the Christ-child. The laundry piles up, the blog stagnates, the email inbox overflows, and the friends wonder why they never hear from you.

How I long for Epiphany. Not because it marks the arrival of the magi to Bethlehem, but because it marks the tail-end of the post-Christmas returns.

I usually put the magi from my creche across the room, and let them journey toward the baby Jesus throughout the Christmas season. Now I have another good reason to mark that journey from Advent Sunday to Epiphany, and to rejoice as the camels carry the three men closer to the manger.

Yes, we miss you! I check your blog every day. Have a wonderful Christmas, my friend, and a new year full of joy and laughter. I just took on a project that spans Christmas -- starts tomorrow, due on January 3rd -- and I'm wondering if I haven't bitten off more than I can comfortably chew. (Check out my latest entry on that one.) Peace and joy! Colleen

It does seem strange how the Advent season has been replaced by the Christmas season. What a shame that the penitence of awaiting the Christ child has been abandoned in favor of unbridled busy-ness.... I like the Magi idea, Tyler; had I a creche, I'd follow your example!
